April 5th-11th: Stir Crazy
No gigs, no musician contact, no concerts to go to…I hope everyone is doing okay this week! I’m getting an itch in my rear to be playing with other folks, at bars-anything other than being confined at home. But, regardless, here’s what I’ve been up to!
Yesterday, I got a text from my Baltimore area friend and youngest talented fiddle player I know Alani Sugar, of the band Ghost Sugar. She wanted to ask me a question and then I had to play a song for her. I said “Well, that’s weird, but absolutely! What’s it for?” She said, “I’m gonna post the video on social media!” It took all of 15 minutes, but it was great to talk to her, and play her a quarantine song I wrote recently! Find her on Facebook and keep a look out for the upcoming video!
This week has been full of practice, practice, practice!! Most notably, I gandered the Lessons With Marcel website, where I found free Tony Rice tabs, Jake Workman tabs, and Trey Hensley tabs, so I’ve been diligently looking through those and seeing what interesting tidbits I can pull out. I also worked up rough demos for 3-4 songs that I’ve had written in my phone.
I talked to one of my Nashville connections, Angela Autumn about what she’s been up to. She’s also been busy playing and staying confined at home, since the Music City doesn’t really have a whole lot of music going on. She’s also been doing a lot of writing, which is great! If you get a chance, check out her updated website and social media pages!
On Thursday, I did a solo live stream show, which went very well, and I hope to do it again soon!! In the comments below, tell me what song you would like to hear from me-I love learning new songs, and the solo live-streams are a great way to test songs out!!
Until next week, stay safe, and don’t touch your face!
